We know that we live in a troubled world. We see evidence very near to us of troubled individuals, troubled families—literally brother turning against brother and children rebelling against parents. We also see troubled nations and factions of terrorism around the world. Almost every day headlines tell of another savage attack somewhere. Jesus spoke eloquently of this to His disciples:
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:32-35).
“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved” (Mark 13:12-13).
His Word is sure! Stand firm!
